LOL Aimee good to see you got your thinking cap on, thanks for the data.
Though you did not share what your biggest sin is at the moment?? :)
Oz, I've been thinking about it. There's a bit of each of them in me. I've always thought that lust was for a person, but now I know it can be things as well.
Pride is a good thing as far as I'm concerned. I'm rather proud of my accomplishments in life.
Envy is not something I do any longer. I've learned that it's a waste of time. It's much better to go and get what you want than to envy it. Learn how to do something rather than envy the talent. What I can't do I admire in others, is that the same as envy?
Gluttony, well that can also be for things, having too many things that you really don't need. I don't do that anymore either.
Anger is a waste of time, I say my piece and it's done. Took me ages to learn that one.
Greed, I'm greedy with myself, my good fortune for having good friends and a great job and a nice place to live. Another good one as far as I'm concerned.
Sloth, well I can be lazy after I've cut down shrubs or worked hard.
I know there are many other meanings but this is what these mean to me.

Quoting: Originally posted by aimeefla As is the case, Oz has gotten my mind working. I looked up the sins on line, and this is what I've found. Just in case anyone was a bit fuzzy on where and how. If you want more on each one you'll have to search for them on line. :-D
Background of the Seven Deadly Sins
There is nowhere in the Christian Bible that a list of the Seven Deadly Sins is given, although lists of virtues contrasted with lists of sins are found in certain books of the New Testament, such as the Epistle to the Galatians. The modern concept of the Seven Deadly Sins is linked to the works of the 4th century monk Evagrius Ponticus, who listed eight "evil thoughts" as follows (Refoule, 1967):
The first three of these sins, as Refoule explains, anger links with the irascible; and vainglory and pride link with the intellect. Some years later, Pope Gregory I (Pope Gregory the Great) would revise this list to form the more common "Seven Deadly Sins".
[edit] Listings of the sins since Gregory the Great
Listed in the same order used by both Pope Gregory the Great in the 6th century, and later by Dante Alighieri in his epic poem The Divine Comedy, the seven deadly sins are as follows: luxuria (extravagance, later lust), gula (gluttony), avaritia (greed), acedia (sloth), ira (wrath), invidia (envy), and superbia (pride). Each of the seven deadly sins has an opposite among the corresponding seven holy virtues (sometimes also referred to as the contrary virtues). In parallel order to the sins they oppose, the seven holy virtues are chastity, temperance, charity, diligence, patience, kindness, and humility.
The identification and definition of the seven deadly sins over their history has been a fluid process and the idea of what each of the seven actually encompasses has evolved over time. This process has been aided by the fact that they are not referred to in either a cohesive or codified manner in the Bible itself, and as a result other literary and ecclesiastical works referring to the seven deadly sins were instead consulted as sources from which definitions might be drawn. Part II of Dante's Divine Comedy, "Purgatorio", has almost certainly been the best known source since the Renaissance.
The modern Roman Catholic Catechism lists the sins as: "pride, avarice, envy, wrath, lust, gluttony, and sloth or acedia, ".[2]

Seriously now, from my own perspective as well as candidness I think highly of myself. I know that I am intelligent, quick witted, funny, warm and generous. Now that is not to say that I have not been humbled. I have. In my personal life as well as my career as a nurse. Both were very difficult for me. However, it has only made me stronger and fight back harder.
I have been told that my lesson in this life time is humility. With that being said, it is a tough road. Can't wait to see who else is brave enough to take this one on Oz. Good topic. Qadesh
Oh I do understand this one, I suffer from quite a few of them and all in the one day. LOL
I do think though that you are faced with the lessons you are meant to learn and you do become a better person for them, if you over come them that is.
You should think highly of yourself, I think you are all you say PLUS much more. :) The only error you can have is not to be aware of your faults as well, for then you have a problem.
Love the updated pic, nice to see you putting yourself out there. :)

So with you on this one girl. :)
Well Smoosh that explains things for ME. I've been feeling like a dirty old woman recently. So this is the 2nd wind?
Dont know how to explain this when I was in my 20's and oh, in my 30's....looking forward to the 50's. :P

Well, being a guy, I know that I suffer from them all and that all are intertwined into 1. It's like a neverending cycle called life, and depending where you are, the circumstances that your in, which one reals it's ugly head. For me though, it's a 3 fold. I'm angry at what I can't have, therefore I lust, but in what I do have, I take pride in. So all of these are summed up as the vicious circle of life on the bad side.

I would have to say, for right now, Envy. I am going through such a hard time in life right now, that I envy those around me who have established careers, financial stability and non-bickering ex'es. Something to look forward to? lol! --True
